The Camp takes you back in time to a Martha’s Vineyard before jets and celebrity sightings. It’s been in our family since 1962 and we’ve kept it as close to its original style as possible. (Okay, we did away with the outhouse and eventually added little items like running water and electricity!) The Camp still feels like the Vineyard did when it was an island for farmers, fishermen and visitors who wanted to be close to nature. While low on luxuries like a microwave or dishwasher, our camp revels in an authentic aesthetic that cannot be created. And the views? Just wait! We’re located right on Deep Bottom Cove, off Tisbury Great Pond – just a short kayak or sail from South Beach.

Special house, special location: If you love a rustic setting in one of the most beautiful spots on the island, this place is for you. If you want all the amenities (dishwasher, microwave, paved roads), you’ll be unhappy. The location is unbelievable, our camp-style house is on a bluff looking over Deep Bottom Cove, one of the small ‘finger coves’ of Tisbury Great Pond. The house is what Martha’s Vineyard used to be: a place to get away from it all. It’s quiet, secluded, unpretentious, and beloved. If you love privacy, and want to have time off the grid, this is your place.
This waterfront and beachfront Martha’s Vineyard rental has been our home for nearly 65 years. The bench on the deck looking over the water is a natural gathering place. The path in front of the house takes you down to the private beach, where you can swim, sail, canoe, and kayak. Sail or paddle to South Beach. Nature is all around… ospreys, swans, herons, and hummingbirds. Only a few other houses in distant view. Gorgeous sunsets and breathtaking stars at night.
The house has four bedrooms, including a separate master bedroom with bathroom. It sleeps eight in beds, plus a blow-up double mattress for additional guests. Small bathtub and delightful outdoor shower. Large wrap around deck with outdoor seating. Hammock. Fully equipped kitchen, washer, and dryer. For those who need an extra bedroom, we also rent out our delightful camper, which sleeps two and has an additional bathroom and kitchen.
This is a place for a return to simplicity… a rustic retreat and a great family getaway. Rare amongst Martha’s Vineyard rental homes these days. No TV, dishwasher, or microwave. Secluded cabin. Low carbon footprint.
Spring and fall: It is particularly nice to visit the house in the spring and fall. We offer weekly rentals on Martha’s Vineyard during the off-season at reduced rates. The house is located on the same road that is the winter entrance to the Trustees of Reservations’ Long Point Wildlife Refuge. Before June 15 and after September 15 the winter entrance gate to the refuge is open, so you can walk or drive out there in just a few minutes. This gives you easy access to South Beach.

Our houses rent weekly from Thursday-Thursday. We find that this works well for renters as ferry reservations are much more accessible on Thursdays.
