LOVE FOR “THE CAMP”
Secluded Getaway — ★★★★★ (5/5)
This place is heaven — secluded and beautiful. We even love the lack of electricity — you know when it gets dark, which is a nice break from the breakneck pace of regular life, and the candlelight and stargazing are perfect in the dark…

Remember you’re alive here. — ★★★★★ (5/5)
Don’t expect a 5-star hotel, even though I gave it the 5-star excellent review. This is a place to get away and really remember what makes your life so blessed. After a day or so you will feel all stresses being lifted from your being as you soak in the sun, hit the nearby beach and feel all the beauty the East Coast has to offer. Let’s not forget the daily view from the outdoor shower and happy hours on the expansive back deck facing the pond as local flora and fauna will overtake your soul body and mind.

Fabulous! — ★★★★★ (5/5)
What a great place! The house is 1.5 miles down a sandy track near the edge of a nature reserve and looks over a lagoon that opens onto the ocean. You can see one other house from the deck, some 1,000ft away behind some trees across the water, but apart from that all you can see is nature. There are several boats at your disposal (kayaks, canoes and sailboats) and you can boat for miles on the Pond and even out to the ocean. The house is clearly a well-loved family cottage – charming, tastefully decorated and exceptionally well-maintained. I’m very particular about cleanliness and was a bit concerned that such an old house might have some corners best not looked into – I’ve had issued with dirty rentals on the Vineyard before – but the place was professionally cleaned before our arrival and was immaculate. We lit a fire in the living room every evening and had a really cosy time reading from the great selection of books provided. My five year old daughter was enthralled by the whole camp experience and we all felt like we were living in a childrens’ adventure story!

Peace and Simplicity — ★★★★★ (5/5)
This lovely antique camp is a beautiful gem. It is situated high on the bank of Deep Bottom Cove on Great Tisbury Pond. Our family spent many hours outside on the large deck, from after breakfast until nightfall. We enjoyed nightly cocktails on the deck watching the sunset. We had dinner outside at the table on the deck, we read and napped in the hammock. You will be able to swim right outside the house, and can take kayaks to the private ocean beach if you want the waves. It is very, very quiet. We were able to set up a wireless hotspot using our VZ phones, if you need to check internet. On arrival, all was clean and tidy. You cannot see the smaller cabin from the larger camp. You will love it if you like simple antique cabins and the outdoors. It reminds me of the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Cardigan Lodge. I slept in the separate master bedroom cabin and the bed was really comfortable. Also, for anyone wondering about bugs at the end of June, we couldn’t believe it, we never even opened our bottle of bug repellant. Plenty of room for kids to wander or ride bikes w/out major roads, yet not so far from Edgartown that you can’t spontaneously say, let’s go to town for ice cream. We like to go out to lunch or dinner there a few times during the week. I’ve been coming to the Vineyard for decades and this place is very special, we’re returning.

Essence of Martha’s Vineyard —★★★★★ (5/5)
My family & I have spent a portion of our summer at this vacation property for the past several years. We can’t say enough about the absolute ideal setting, it is the essence of what a stay in Martha’s Vineyard is all about. The history felt through the walls, the high-quality care of the home & the privacy are some of our favorites about this property. Picture midnight swims, afternoons lounging on the deck & candlelight dinners at one of the two dinner tables. It’s the type of setting where memories are made.

LOVE FOR “THE CABIN”
This spot was a perfect retreat for our family 🙂 — ★★★★★ (5/5)
We absolutely loved our stay at this cabin and had an incredible week. For us, this location struck the perfect balance of being remote and connected. We had no wifi–and liked it that way. We could walk down to a sandy spot by the pond where our kids could swim and play and we could park beach chairs and read, or pile into the canoe for an adventure. It was also nice to drive into town once a day for dinners out, shopping, walks or visits to public beaches. The cabin is rustic, the view of the pond is amazing and peace surrounded by those woods is just perfect.

Great Spot! — ★★★★★ (5/5)
The location is wonderful and private, and the cabin has everything necessary to prepare and cook meals. If you are looking for remote bare bones living this is it. For myself, I can do without TV, but lack of internet was tough. Also, visiting in late August I thought it would be cooler at night, but some nights were warm and I was thankful that I brought a fan. The paddle to the beach is a great workout and kayaks and canoes are provided. Mia is great and always responded immediately to answer any concerns. Otherwise had a great stay!

Unbelievable — ★★★★★ (5/5)
The location of this home is truly beautiful. It is peaceful, quiet, scenic, private. The cabin itself is just as described–comfortable, simple. The owners were terrific. I was able to enjoy kayaking, canoeing, sailing, swimming, birdwatching and hiking. I also did bicycling, although the sandy road made it challenging to start right at the house. All in all–it was a perfect place for a retreat.

Discovered Best Getaway Ever! — ★★★★★ (5/5)
My husband and I wanted to plan a peaceful and relaxing week away in the off season and could not have found a more incredible place. The reviews and pictures enticed us, but we had to pinch ourselves when we finally arrived. One of the reviews mentions that the pictures don’t fully do it justice. And it’s true! It’s simply the most beautiful, secluded and charming cottage. It has everything we need. We never minded having no TV, limited electrical lights and a wood-burning stove. It actually made for an incredibly relaxing and romantic vacation. Such a special thing to make dinner by candlelight (with a few small lamps), read books by the fire on a crisp autumn afternoon, and enjoy the island in the fall. The wood-burning stove heated the house beautifully – we were cozy all day and night. The kayaks were so much fun – we took them out into Deep Bottom Cove and to Long Point Beach. The location is ideal, easy to get to all points on the Vineyard, but you almost feel like you have the entire island to yourself at the cottage. It was clean, the bed was comfy, the kitchen well-stocked. The view from the windows, deck (and shower!) were absolutely breathtaking. We cannot recommend this cottage enough! We hope and plan to return every year. Such a gem!!

Where Heaven and Haven Meet — ★★★★★ (5/5)
We roll out of bed into a canoe. At that time of the morning the water on our cove of Tisbury Great Pond is still and quiet. Cormorants, egrets, and heron’s swoop to feed in the glassy water of daybreak. Our own private flock of pure white swans sails on regally paying them, and us, no mind. After breakfast we hop on our bikes and head a few miles up the dirt road. Right across the main road is the 5100-acre Correllus State Forest. Its bike paths go right by the town tennis courts where we spend most mornings. The paths also take us to a good gym with indoor courts at the airport, and Morning Glory foods, just down the road, for fresh breads and vegetables. The cabin’s design is simple on the outside, but of significant architectural interest on the inside. The comfortable king-size bed pretty much takes up the small bedroom, sharing it only with a dresser and two closets. But this is the Vineyard. I usually wind up wearing the same pair of shorts for the entire stay. The main living area consists of a dining table that seats four, against a large window with a view of the cove; a bank of multi-light windows at the far end offers a simultaneous view of the little private beach and, beyond it, the larger pond. I never can decide which view is more beautiful. The ceiling is vaulted and open, and the unique roof truss fascinates me endlessly. I wonder who thought it up. The interior is built of the simplest materials, giving it the natural charm of a tree house, appropriate to being so deeply immersed in nature. The wood stove is easy to operate and heats the cabin in minutes. There is always an adequate stash of kindling and split hardwood supplied by the owners.
The galley kitchen is a little tight, but mostly we cook dinners on the outdoor grill. The cabin has no internet access, but good cell service so I can use a USB antenna to play my favorite radio stations around the country on my laptop. The cabin shares a beach and several boats with the property’s larger house up the road. (Not visible from the cabin.) After lunch, we take a boat across the pond to where a small sandbank separates it from the ocean. If you prefer calmer waters, there’s a Trustees of Reservations property down the road that has a calm, clear lagoon for swimming. There’s rarely anyone there, which makes it a find. Every season, when we have to leave, the first thing I do is book the same time next year. That tells you more than any description can.

Exquisite, Private, Martha’s Vineyard Retreat — ★★★★★ (5/5)
I’ve been renting this cabin every summer for the past ten years. The location is perfect. Several miles down a dirt road, with no neighbors, on a private pond which opens up to the ocean, if you don’t mind doing some rowing to get there. We make the kayak trip to the ocean one of our special day-long annual outings. Early morning pond swims as well as sundown swims are a daily ritual. There is no TV, thank goodness, and the cabin is very rustic with some electric lights but mostly gas lamps, and we wouldn’t want it any other way. The newly built back deck which looks out onto the pond is our favorite place to eat meals and we sometimes even sleep out there. Last year while I was swimming one early morning, there wasn’t a sound, and I was all alone, I looked up to find three otters climbing over themselves to watch me. If you want to be on the Vineyard and not have to deal with any crowds, this is the place for you. If you want all of the luxuries — TV, AC, internet access, washer dryer, etc. — this is not where you want to be. I wouldn’t ever go anywhere else.

Ideal escape — ★★★★★ (5/5)
This cottage is truly a balm for the soul. Nestled on the edge of Deep Bottom Cove, with lovely water views, it’s simple, serene, and an ideal escape. The interior is rustic but comfortable and tidy; there’s a lovely deck that’s bathed in sunlight much of the day; and the outdoor shower is entirely exposed and yet entirely private. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway or want to begin writing that novel, this is your spot.

The best spot on the Vineyard — ★★★★★ (5/5)
My husband and I stayed in this sweet, but spacious feeling cabin on the Vineyard, right on a large ocean cove. The inside is clean but rustic with lots of character. The beautiful deck overlooks the water. It is lit by gas lamp or candlelight which is actually very cozy. Everything was clean and well taken care of. We definitely would go back!

Something for Everyone — ★★★★★ (5/5)
Let me begin by saying I am no stranger to the Vineyard-I’ve been coming here to visit family for over 55 years. But it wasn’t until the summer I rented the writer’s cabin that I once again found the Vineyard I remembered as a child. Gone were the noise, the traffic and the crowded beaches. For the nature lover, beachcomber, kayaker, sailor or someone who just likes to get away from it all, the cabin on the Cove has something for everyone. You’ll start to feel like you own a little piece of this “heaven on earth” as you return again and again. The cabin has everything you need for your vacation-even includes use of kayaks, sailboats and a canoe. You’ll find everything clean when you arrive and I hope you get to meet the owners as they’ll make you feel right at home. I love the outside shower, the woodstove on a cool summer night, and the king size bed that’s as comfortable as a four star hotel.
I’ve recommended the cabin to several friends and now they too come back year after year. Visitor’s kids especially love the surf and are especially thrilled when the “cut’ is open between the pond and the ocean. For younger children there is even a fresh water pond right next to the ocean. It’s fun to go out to dinner once or twice but I prefer barbecuing swordfish on the grill provided and eating on the deck, watching the sunset over the cove. I also like to take in a concert and have seen some well-known performers each summer. Animal life abounds on this peaceful salt-water pond. Bring your camera to photograph the osprey, swans and if you’re very fortunate, you may even meet the sea otters in the cove as a friend of mine did early one morning.
When I walk in the door of the cabin, I shout out, “I’m home”! Enjoy your stay!
