Welcome to our site where you can learn about our “off the grid” summer rental located on Tisbury Great Pond. Our home is a now a charming relic on Martha’s Vineyard – one of the few remaining “camp style homes.” Located on Deep Bottom Cove, on Tisbury Great Pond in Martha’s Vineyard. This is the place you go to get away from it all.
If you are a true nature lover, looking to experience an old-style Martha’s Vineyard vacation, you’ve come to the right place. If sitting on a porch with killer views on the pond, sunsets to die for and kayaking to South Beach with osprey and cormorants as your companions are your jam, you’ll love our home. Alternatively, if your idea of a great Vineyard vacation is exploring the shops and golfing in Edgartown, you’re going to feel wildly isolated on this remote area of the island..
Longtime renter and columnist for the New York Times wrote the following about our little slice of heaven: The Magic of Swimming on Martha’s Vineyard
“…I’ve yet to find a place as magical as Martha’s Vineyard. Out the back door of my rented cabin is a tidal pond — a rare habitat that connects to the ocean and thus changes in depth, salinity, current and resident creatures from one day (and one hour) to the next. It is long, narrow and one of five, like the fingers of a hand, that converge at Tisbury Great Pond, the largest inland body of water on the island. Just beyond is the Atlantic Ocean, South Beach to be precise, all of it part of the 600-acre Long Point Wildlife Refuge, the last remaining unspoiled part of a summer resort where tourists drive the winter population of 16,000 to 105,000. On a typical visit, over the last 15 years, I swim in ‘my’ pond, shared only with a pair of swans, a half dozen times a day.”
